The blog is mostly a means of staying sane in a small place, of focusing on what’s different day-to-day in a routine I’ve had for years. But I also believe that there’s something more to public transit than the Point A to Point B. I am not qualified to write on city planning; I am too self-conscious for language like “the shared urban experience.” So I creep on my fellow passengers a little bit instead.
A sampling of my favorite BART moments, for starters:
- Teen Girl Squad: Walnut Creek meets West Oakland.
- Election day: A small, sticker-based sisterhood.
- Sports fans: From the mouths of drunks.
- Missed connection: This sucked, actually, but it did make the MUNI Diaries.
If you’ve got a good public-transit story, I’d love to hear it.
